Meadowlark Bird Sculpture Faux TaxidermyRealistic Bird Carving Folk Art on Drift Wood
From far away this looks like a taxidermy specimen, but up close you realize it is nothing but a beautiful homage to a native species to the Northeast USA.
Eastern Meadowlark on a piece of driftwood
By Ed Magargee a gifted woodcarving artist / genius
Signed by Artist on the bottom but also carved initials on top of driftwood
From Moorestown, NJ
•Circa 1970's
• The bird is made out of a soft wood
• The eyes of the bird appear to be made of transparent resin with a dot of black paint suspended inside to give it the look of an iris
Measures: 9" wide x 8-1/4 tall" x 8" deep
Condition: The wood was recently dusted off and protected with boiled linseed oil to avoid dry-rot and separation. The only flaw is the tail feathers which is honestly not noticeable considering how highly detailed every inch of this bird is. It really is a truly amazing bird carving. It could easily pass as a real bird from afar.
