Description
Up for sale is a Vintage Crown Devon Fielding's cup. Made in England. 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Has crazing inside and out. No chips or cracks. Gold lip and gold on handle. Has one place with some tiny black spots. It doesn't come off. Don't have a clue what it is. The picture on the cup is the scenery of a colorful blacksmith's shop with a man holding a book and A 43 S, I think. The scenery represents the world famous historic home of the anvil wedding. Back in 1713, the blacksmith's shop was just that for over a 100 years, then it became the first stop over the border(Gretna Green Village) in Scotland, for a young lovers go-to wedding destination. There were 3 ceremonial rooms to marry in. The Original Marriage Room, the old Saddlery Room and the Richard Rennison Room. R Rennison was a saddler, who came to Gretna Green after hearing there was a vacancy for a resident 'priest' at the Blacksmith Shop. The man on the cup represents Richard Rennison holding a Marriage Register in front of the famous Old Blacksmith's shop Marriage Room in Gretna Green Village.
