    Description

    Hi All,
Here is a barrel knife made by hand in the USSR probubly in the 1920's to mid 1900's. I say it is that old because the handle seems to be made from Bakelite,(first plastic) you know the stuff really old radio's were made of back in the US back in the 1920's. It has the "feel" of a knife made a while back. Closed it is a bottle opener, open a knife with a 2.5 inch very sharp blade.
Simple yet elegant, it has a blue green piece of glass (?) set on the pommel the blade it's self sits encapsulated in the handle. Which as I said appears to be Bakelite or at any rate a synthetic of some sort. Shows minor signs of use and some scratches on the blade from sharpening. The steel that makes up the rest of the knife is carbon steel Actually it is very cool, the vintage hand made ones from Scandinavia go for 300.00 or 400.00 dollars the ones from the USSR go for less plus the shipping. Save yourself the hassle and time.
You can buy one for less from the Russian Federation then wait 2 months and perhaps it comes. Mine is here in Florida for first class USPS shipping. You should have it in 3 or 4 days. Very cool present for a knife maker, heck it is just cool. Jump on it no worries been at this a long time. USA shipping only.
A little bit about me. I am a Blade Smith and have been for the last 16 years. My own work can be seen on the Arizona Custom Knives web site. Go to makers and look me up under Kenneth Hills or cut and paste this to your browser.   https://www.arizonacustomknives.com/knives-by-maker/hills-kenneth/    I also do a lot of custom work for people. I bring this up because as I collected these I always go over them remove any flaking chrome or rust, clean and oil all the pivots apply Renaissance wax to the surfaces. In General bring the knife back to as close to original as it allows.
Enjoy the auction and check out my other auctions for more unusual knives.  Thanks, Ken
