I have been collecting posters since the early '70's. I have around 300 Fillmore/Avalon/psychedelic posters- we'll get around to that, eventiually- but I realized early on that I should grab all the Sex Pistols (and punk) posters I could find. They were making history and charting the course for the future.
We are just now getting deeper into the Vault, and pulling posters out that haven't seen the light of day since I squirreled them away decades ago.
Despite my feelings that some day all that punk stuff might be desirable, I was stunned to see what this poster was selling for: 0 at Juliens in 2013. 00 in 2020 at Omega Auctions (that one was signed by the artist, Jamie Reed).
There is ACTUALLY ONE UP FOR AUCTION RIGHT NOW AT SOTHEBY'S- current bid is 00 with days to go (OK, this was also signed by the artist...looks like UNSIGNED originals actually issued by THE RECORD COMPANY are rarer!
Most of the one that have entered the market have been holdings from the artist or others- the one I am offering is actually the original record company release, printed to go up all over the streets of London and the UK.
Back in the late '70's/early '80's several English (and other European) poster outfits (Hi Allison Gracey! Love you!) came to the US, as "Rock Conventions" became a thing for a while.
We established a relationship with several companies- Lippman-Rau in Europe, etc-- they wanted US posters and I wanted UK posters. I made it known that I wanted Pistols, Clash, Jam, and other originals, and amassed a lot of what now appears to be desirable stuff. I knew they were historic artifacts at a time when almost no one else did. All my listings are original acquisitions from the time of release.
Offers are accepted if higher than the minimum bid price.
