Original Master Carver Richard Palmer (1939-2008) wood carved OWL with glass eyes. Signed and dated 1978.Excellent condition and clean.
The Rolls Royce of bird carvings is the easiest way to describe Richard Palmer's work. World Champion Master Carver Richard Palmer's work is on permanent display in the Smithsonian and Audubon Museums. As all, of his art, this piece has thousands of cut lines in hundreds and hundreds of feathers and accents. True coloring and the glass eyes make this owl incredibly realistic.
WHITE SPOTS AND STREAKS ARE REFLECTIONS AND GLARE FROM THE LIGHTING.
The overall piece measures 5 1/8th inches high by 5 3/8ths inches wide and 5 3/8ths inches deep. Richard Palmer 1978 signature on the bottom.
No cracks, chips, gouges or stains. I find no flaws on this piece. The owl is probably mounted by an unseen peg. there is 1/64th of an inch movement when twisted gently.
