    Lionel Vintage Postwar No. 2046W-50 Whistling Lionel Lines Illuminated Tender
    For sale is a Lionel vintage postwar 2046W-50 whistling Lionel Lines long streamlined
    illuminated
    tender that can be dated to 1950-1952 which is now in
    excellent condition
    .
    The tender was completely disassembled, including the whistle, relay, and trucks, then gently and thoroughly cleaned, reassembled, lubricated, tested, and adjusted.
    Both roller pickups were rewired.
    The white heat-stamped
    Lionel Lines
    lettering is sharp and crisp; the steps are in excellent condition; there are very few playwear scuffs, and these are minor; the magnetic knuckle coupler operates correctly and consistently; and the whistle is
    wicked
    loud!
    This 2046W-50 whistling Lionel Lines long streamlined illuminated tender features:
    a black-painted die-cast plastic shell with a molded coal load and white heat-stamped lettering;
    three
    portholes
    on the rear with two white lenses on the outer and one red lens on the inner porthole through which a
    light mounted to the chassis
    on the inside of the tender shell shines through as the tender moves down the track;
    a black plastic
    water scoop
    in the middle of the bottom of the tender;
    an
    operating electromechanical
    whistle
    mounted horizontally on the metal chassis comprising a molded plastic whistle body, die-cast metal whistle motor, and
    DC solenoid whistle relay (which works with any Lionel transformer with a whistle control button or lever or with a No. 147 whistle controller)
    ; two roller pickups; staple-end detailed die-cast metal trucks with one magnetic knuckle coupler and one locomotive (slot) coupler; and metal wheels and axles.
    The 2046W-50 whistling Lionel Lines long streamlined tender was produced from 1950 to 1955 and was sold with various locomotives, such as the 1950-1951 No. 2046 steam locomotive, and the 1952 No. 671 20-wheel turbine locomotive.  Only the earliest 2046W tenders were illuminated.  It will roll equally well on either 027- or 0-gauge track.
    Before
