    Description

    Lionel Prewar  238 locomotive, 2225W tender
    Lionel offered the attractive streamlined 238E / 238 from 1936 to 1942. In 1939 the "E" was dropped because the reversing "E unit" was considered standard equipment at that time.   This is the black version with a 2225W tender, which was offered in 1939 and 1940.
    This very nice example is a very strong, fast runner.  The E-unit was been rebuilt and works flawlessly.   The whistle has a new wire from the pickup, and blows loud.   The tender's operating box coupler works well.      The locomotive has some very minor paint touch ups along the lower edge, the tender has more extensive touch ups.
