    Description

    Offered is the only set made by Lionel in 1945 and the first postwar set made with mostly leftover prewar parts.  This is set 463W and a matched set it is.  All have black fiberboard flying shoe couplers with deep dish wheels as made just before Xmas that year.  The 224E loco has black handrails and special long short hook drawbar.  The wheels are binding and probably has a diecast tooth meshing issue.  The correct tender did rattle and produce a whistle, needs some oil, but wiring is good.  The tough 2755 tank car has mostly intact decals for a change and not darkened too much.  Silver paint has much gloss.  The 2758 boxcar is very clean, as is the 2452 gondola.  Barrels included are solid, not opening.  The 2457 red caboose rounds it out with just a couple oxidized nicks on one side.  No boxes, but a real nice matched set to display on your wall.  High bidder to pay US postage from my zip to yours.
