I loved Lionel trains as a boy in the 1950s.
I sold a lot but kept a couple of sets for my two sons who are now 53 and 48.
I bought this as part of a set for my older son for Christmas
1975 or 1976.
Unfortunately neither son had any interest in them and said sell them as they would rather have the money.
So, here is a vintage
Lionel 8550 Jersey Central GP-9 Powered Diesel Locomotive from 1975-76 in 027 Gauge with box and Styrofoam

I no longer have track and power to test it but he only ran it a few times that Christmas and it has been boxed up for 40+ years.
It probably would need cleaning and oiling but other than that I believe it is in perfect running condition.
There is some light surface rust in spots that would probably rub out with a little oil.
The box is complete but a little rough.
The cellophane in the window is only attached at the top.
There are some abrasions and rub marks along the corners and sides of the box.
The Styrofoam liner is in excellent condition.
It comes with vintage dust at no extra cost (see cleaning note below).
