Hmong/Montagnard? Knife or sword

Hmong/Montagnard? Knife or sword. Condition is "Used".
This was a GI bringback from the Vietnam war, blade is well kept. Though i do not know if it is an original from the Hmong, or if it was one they sold to GI soldiers as a tourist trap
From what I have gathered, this was leaning towards a ceremonial bring back, as the blade is very well kept along withe intricate design on the blade itself
Only issue with it as i have seen so far, is the bands above the attached laynard. They are movable however it does not appear to be an issue functionally.
