This is a low-pressure gas-discharged lamp filled with deuterium (heavy hydrogen, D
2
). It generates a continuous UV - VIS spectrum and also several lines in VIS, for spectroscopic applications. Although the D
2
lamp emits radiation extending from 112 nm to 900 nm, most of its continuous spectrum is only from 180 nm to 370 nm, where it finds the best use (details on Wikipedia). Lamp type D2E, it is made in former East Germany, years 70', by the bulb company NARVA, today part of Philips. New, perfect condition, never used, with original, opened box. For spectroscopic laboratories, or as a vintage, collectible item.
