You are looking at an early American Flyer cast iron O gauge Streamliner locomotive and passenger cars known as the Burlington Zephyr, CB&Q. This is one of the more iconic articulated sets out there. This set was produced in 1937-38 though the first versions came out in 1934.
This is the CAST version, not the tinplate version made with the same number.  THIS SET is the one that came with the engine and FOUR cars (versus the smaller three car set).
This unit has had a red stripe and highlights added to it at some point in its life. I like it. But if you do not, it may be removeable--I will leave that to you. The engine has been serviced and is running.
I believe this to be the version from 1937-38 as the baggage car does not have the whistle and the engine is the larger 9914 power car. In 1938 it was catalogued as set #14.

This one is all original. It is the famous Burlington Zephyr which makes quite an impression on the shelf or on the layout. Check out the streamlined look--the rounded front and the fin tail observation!
CONDITION:
C6. Serviced and running. Someone painted a red highlight on this one--can probably be removed if you are so inclined. Shows handling wear and scratches. Decals are chipped. The finish is the usual duller oxidized casting, but it can be polished to shine if that is your preference.
