We are delighted to offering for your private collection this Superb!! and Very Rare-Antique Circa 19th Century England Sheffield (Massive 17” Long) "James Rodgers Royal Cutlery Sheffield" bowie knife comprised of a curved tapering blade, a hilt with opposing spheres at either end, a gorgeous fluted handle with a Sterling silver collar and pommel presenting foliate scrollwork patterns in relief throughout. Ricasso is impressed "James Rodgers Royal Cutlery Sheffield". Sterling silver collar and pommel impressed with hallmarks: Sheffield town mark, Sterling mark, and John Batt mark. A very unique! piece that will make a Collector very very happy!!!. Measurements: The Bowie Knife measures approx. 17" (43.2cm) Long x approx. 4-1/4" (10.8cm) Wide.The Blade measures approx. 10-1/2" (26.7cm) Long. Provenance: Found at a Ohio State Civil War private Collection. Condition Report: We do our very best to describe the condition to the best of our knowledge. The Bowie Knife is in very good condition for it's age and presents well!!.Wear consistent with age. Some oxidation at the blade. Please check all the pictures they are part of the description. We are delighted to offering for your private collection this Superb!! and Very Rare-Antique Circa 19th Century England Sheffield (Massive 17” Long) "James Rodgers Royal Cutlery Sheffield (1758-1829)" bowie knife comprised of a curved tapering blade, a hilt with opposing spheres at either end, a gorgeous fluted handle with a Sterling silver collar and pommel presenting foliate scrollwork patterns in relief throughout.
