Akim Tamiroff (born Hovakim Tamirian) was an Armenian-American actor. Appeared
in some 80 films in a career that spanned almost four decades. Nominated for two
Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor:
The General Died at Dawn
(1936) and

(1943). Tamiroff had a long collaboration with Orson Welles including
A Touch of Evil
(1958),
Mr. Arkadin
(1958) and
The Trial
(1962).
