1946 Lionel Postwar 671 TURBINE Steam Locomotive
with Bulb Smoke System
and 671W Whistle Tender & Instructions - O Gauge
For auction is a very nice Lionel Postwar Turbine 671 Engine with 6-8-6 wheel arrangement, 671W Whistle Tender, Instructions and original Smoke Bottle with a few Pellets.

Very good condition.
671 ENGINE
:
The engine runs well in forward and reverse. It was disassembled, cleaned and serviced. The commutator was polished, the brush plate and brush plate holder cleaned. The motor brushes were replaced with new ones if needed. New grease was applied to the gears and a drop of oil on each axle and side rod connecting points.
Has 3-position e-unit that cycles properly most of the time. The e-unit drum was cleaned and contact cleaner put on the piston. The e-unit was not taken apart for full service. This is the horizonal e-unit. It was not made with a lever.
The e-unit can be locked in forward, neutral or backward by moving the plug in the cab from the left into the receptacle on the right. When locked the e-unit is not activated to change directions.
Die-cast iron construction.
Does not have magnatraction. Made by Lionel that way.
Has the smoke bulb unit that creates the smoke and is the headlight. Bulb tested and works. The bulb is made to hold the smoke pill to make the smoke. Tested the smoke which works when running and warmed up.
An original Lionel smoke pellet bottle with a few pellets is included as seen in a picture.
Has the smoke flapper installed correctly. The fiber phenolic cam is in good condition. The flapper goes up and down with the cog on the front wheel of the drive wheels to create the puffing of smoke.
Metal side rods are clean.
There are some scratches, paint nicks and touch ups and play wear.
Metal wheels with die-cast forward and trailing trucks.
Has the Apron, the cab steps at rear of engine.
671W Lionel Lines WHISTLING TENDER
:
Serviced, including commutator polished, wheel sets wired brush cleaned, new wires from both roller pick-ups to the motor and brushes - brush plate holder cleaned.
Working well with good sound.
Made with one remote control knuckle coupler. It opened when tested on a remote control track section.
Metal wheel and staple-end trucks.
The number for this tender was not stamped by Lionel on the bottom.
A copy of instructions will be included. They are for the smoke bulb system and for the 1947-1949 Turbine which has a different motor configuration than this 1946.
